Junior Admin: Quick Start
Age: 8–14 years
Level: beginner
Format: online, interactive exercises, practical tasks
Goal: to introduce schoolchildren and teenagers to the Linux operating system through visual and textual simulators.
Description:
This course is designed especially for children and teens who want to explore the world of Linux. Together with a penguin mentor, students will learn how the terminal works, what files and directories are, and how to create and delete them using commands.
The course follows a “from simple to complex” approach: students first get acquainted with basic commands (ls, mkdir, rm, cd), then learn to move files, read content, and use built-in help. All exercises are accompanied by a visual model — when a command is entered, the student immediately sees how the file structure changes on the screen.
Each module includes:
- Simple explanations of new commands
- Work in an interactive terminal
- Mini-missions and tasks with validation
- Visual representation of the file system
By the end of the course, students will confidently work in the command line, create their own file structures, understand how a Linux system works, and apply the skills for study, games, or their first IT projects.
Skills developed:
- Navigating the file system
- Working with the terminal
- Basics of system management and security
- Logical thinking and independence
